Certification Agreement

Last updated May 2026

This Certification Agreement (the "Agreement") governs the SafeGradeAI certification program. It is entered into between SafeGradeAI ("SafeGradeAI", "we", "us") and the organization submitting an AI product for evaluation ("Vendor"). By submitting a product for certification, Vendor accepts this Agreement.

1. Scope of certification

SafeGradeAI conducts an independent evaluation of the submitted product against the published SafeGradeAI methodology and certain proprietary, non-public review criteria. Certification reflects SafeGradeAI's professional assessment as of the issue date and is not a guarantee of future performance, regulatory approval, or absence of defects.

2. Vendor obligations

  • Provide accurate, complete documentation requested during evaluation.
  • Disclose material changes to data handling, moderation, or audience targeting.
  • Cooperate in good faith with reviewer follow-ups and audit requests.
  • Notify SafeGradeAI of any reportable safety incident within 5 business days.

3. Ongoing monitoring

Certification is an operational commitment, not a one-time badge. SafeGradeAI continuously monitors certified products for vendor policy changes, incidents, and feature updates, and may run quarterly probe spot-checks and an annual full re-evaluation during the certification term.

4. Audit cooperation

Vendor agrees to cooperate with reasonable reassessment requests, including providing updated documentation, demonstration access, and good-faith responses to reviewer questions within 10 business days. Failure to cooperate may result in suspension of certification.

5. Certification lifecycle

Each certification follows a defined lifecycle of: Submitted, Under Review, Evidence Validated, Certification Issued, Monitoring Active, Reassessment Pending, Certification Renewed, and (where applicable) Certification Revoked. The Vendor's current lifecycle status is reflected on the public verification page.

6. Suspension & revocation

SafeGradeAI may suspend, downgrade, or revoke certification at any time, including for material policy changes, demonstrated safety incidents involving minors, false or misleading documentation, misuse of the SafeGradeAI badge, or non-cooperation with ongoing monitoring. Where reasonable, SafeGradeAI will provide notice and a remediation window before revocation.

7. Use of the certification

Vendor's use of the SafeGradeAI name, badge, and trust marks is subject to the Trademark & Badge Usage Policy. Vendor may not modify the badge, misrepresent the scope of certification, or imply endorsement beyond the scope of the issued evaluation.

8. Fees & renewal

Certification fees are non-refundable once the evaluation begins. Renewal is governed by the Certification Renewal Policy. Lapsed certifications must be re-submitted under the then-current methodology version.

9. Confidentiality

Each party will protect non-public information shared during evaluation. SafeGradeAI's internal scoring weights, escalation thresholds, and review heuristics are confidential proprietary information and may not be reverse-engineered, redistributed, or used to construct a derivative rating.

10. Liability

SafeGradeAI's aggregate liability under this Agreement is limited to fees paid by Vendor for the most recent certification cycle. SafeGradeAI disclaims any implied warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Governing terms

This Agreement is governed alongside the SafeGradeAI Terms of Service. Conflicts are resolved in favor of this Agreement for matters specific to the certification program.
